Swami Durgananda (Margaret White) was a beloved swami and teacher in the Yasodhara Ashram lineage. Born in Philadelphia in 1924, she was an artist, housewife and mother of three children when she met Swami Radha in 1967.

She moved to Yasodhara Ashram in 1981. Eight years later she took vows of sanyas and became Swami Durgananda. Her gift was being able to share the power of symbolism in yoga, and she was an especially insightful teacher of Hidden Language Hatha Yoga and Dream Yoga. She wrote a memoir of her time with Swami Radha, In Durga’s Embrace.
